Lions vs. Patriots in Munich
This is the trip on the 2026 schedule that immediately jumps out at me. You're not just traveling to another NFL city. You're going to Munich for a Lions game.
That means international flights, figuring out where to stay, getting to the stadium, dealing with the time change and deciding whether you're going all that way just for the game or staying long enough to actually see Germany.
If I were making this trip, I wouldn't rush it. I'd want enough time to enjoy Munich before or after game day instead of spending most of the trip in airports.

Munich is the obvious big trip, but there are several other away games that could make a pretty good football weekend depending on what you want to do besides go to the game.
Arizona Cardinals
October in Arizona gives you an easy excuse to turn the game into a longer warm-weather trip. Phoenix-area resorts, golf, desert scenery and plenty to do outside game day make this one worth a look.
Miami Dolphins
A November Lions game in South Florida gives you beach time, restaurants and warm weather before heading back to Michigan.
Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta works well as a city weekend. There are plenty of hotels, restaurants and things to do, and you don't necessarily need to stretch it into a long vacation.
Green Bay Packers
It doesn't need beaches or sightseeing to make the list. Lions-Packers at Lambeau is one of those football road trips where the game and the atmosphere are the trip.
