At first, planning an annual golf trip sounds easy.
Someone starts a group text.
A few destinations get thrown around.
Everyone says they’ll “go anywhere.”
Then reality shows up.
One golfer wants bucket-list courses.
Another wants the cheapest trip possible.
Someone else wants a beach.
A couple of guys only care about the nightlife after the round.
Before long, nobody can agree, and what should have been a fun conversation starts feeling like work.
The truth is, there isn’t one perfect golf destination.
There is only the right destination for your group.
Every Golf Group Is Different
I’ve learned that golfers don’t all travel for the same reason.
Some groups want to cross legendary courses off their bucket list.
Others simply want four days away with friends, good food, and a few competitive rounds.
Some want luxury resorts.
Others want to squeeze in 72 holes over a long weekend.
That’s why copying another group’s annual trip doesn’t always work.
The destination has to fit your group—not somebody else’s.
The Biggest Mistake Golf Groups Make
Most golfers begin by asking:
“Where should we go?”
I think the better question is:
“What kind of golf trip do we want?”
Do you want championship golf?
Ocean views?
A tropical getaway?
The most golf for your money?
Nightlife after the round?
A couples golf vacation?
Or simply a place where everyone can relax and enjoy the week together?
Once you answer those questions, your list of destinations becomes much shorter.
Budget Changes Everything
Let’s be honest.
The budget usually makes the final decision.
One destination might cost around $1,200 per golfer.
Another could easily be $5,000 or more.
Neither trip is automatically better.
They’re simply built for different golfers and different expectations.
That’s why it’s important to look beyond the green fees.
Flights, lodging, transportation, meals, resort fees, caddies, and entertainment all add up.
Looking at the total trip cost gives you a much better picture before anyone starts booking.
Some Destinations Are Bucket List Golf
If your group has always talked about playing famous courses, destinations like Pinehurst, Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes, and Casa de Campo should probably be on your list.
These are the trips golfers remember for the rest of their lives.
At Casa de Campo, golfers come from around the world to play Teeth of the Dog, one of the most famous courses in the Caribbean.
It’s the kind of course golfers dream about long before they ever step onto the first tee.
Other Destinations Are About The Entire Experience
Not every golf trip has to revolve around famous courses.
Sometimes the memories happen after everyone walks off the 18th green.
Myrtle Beach gives groups dozens of courses, restaurants, and nightlife.
Scottsdale combines incredible desert golf with luxury resorts.
Hilton Head mixes golf with beaches and relaxation.
Las Vegas offers championship golf during the day and endless entertainment at night.
The best destination isn’t always the most expensive one.
It’s the place your group will still be talking about next year.
So…Where Should Your Group Go?
There isn’t one answer.
The right golf trip depends on your budget, how many golfers are traveling, how many rounds you want to play, and what everyone wants to do when they’re not on the course.
